A world away in just a day...

Our guests are met at Mowat's Landing (west end of Hwy #558) at 10am   on Saturdays.  The following 15 minutes is spent crossing the Montreal River on a barge.  Upon docking at the bottom of Mattawapika Dam, luggage etc. is transferred to trucks and transported around the dam (about 200 yards).  A further 8 mile boat trip with several fishing areas pointed out along the way finishes the journey to the island.  The transition from the pressures of the road to the peace and relaxed atmosphere of visiting  a pristine northern lake  shows on the faces of our guests; some of them "coming home" and a few of them discovering for the first time just how comfortable the northern world can be.
